I build practical systems from real problems.

I'm a 3rd-year BSIT student from Leon, Iloilo. I write full-stack software and, when the problem needs it, firmware and hardware — including a pump controller installed at our house.

Looking for a full-stack software engineering internship.

Deep-well water pumps easily burn out if they run dry or run too long unattended. To solve this for my home in Iloilo, I built a two-node automation system: an ESP32 master connected to a 1.5 HP motor contactor, and an ESP8266 at the 660L water tank with an ultrasonic sensor. They communicate over a 40-meter CAT6 wire using RS-485 to avoid motor electrical interference. Even if the home Wi-Fi disconnects, local firmware logic ensures the pump shuts off automatically before running dry.

  • • 40-meter wired RS-485 link with CRC checks to eliminate electrical noise from the motor.
  • • Local firmware safety timers that shut down the motor within 15 seconds if dry-run conditions are detected.
  • • Native Android app built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Bluetooth setup and tank level monitoring.

Student teams and computing researchers often generate ideas and raw notes faster than they can validate whether they are worth building. CONVERA is a research validation platform designed to organize problem interviews, scholarly citations, and requirements into structured proposals. It evaluates assumptions against recognized computing frameworks (including IEEE 830 and CHED CICT guidelines) to test feasibility and identify gaps before coding starts.

  • • Dual validation workflows: a 7-phase path for startup discovery and an 8-stage path for computing research (March & Smith DSR).
  • • Interactive evidence graph that maps research papers and interview claims down to functional software requirements.
  • • Direct export integration with Notion, Zotero (BibTeX & CSL-JSON), and GitHub Issues with local audit logs.
  • • 38 relational SQLite tables in WAL mode backed by 338 automated offline backend tests.

HavenStay operational dashboard showing real-time occupancy and financial summary

Built as solo coursework for Information Management, HavenStay is modeled around student boarding houses near universities. Most rental software assumes whole apartments, but boarding houses rent by individual bed spaces and share water and electric meters. I designed HavenStay to track bed-level vacancies and assignments, split shared utilities fairly among occupants, and enforce audit records using 45 MySQL triggers so transaction histories cannot be altered or lost.

  • • Bed-level inventory tracking for individual bed vacancies, deposits, and lease terms.
  • • Automated utility calculation that splits shared water and electric sub-meters fairly among tenants.

Faith Laundry Shop operational dashboard and live order queue

Built as a course capstone based on the daily operations of Faith Laundry Shop in Iloilo. The shop relied on handwritten paper notebooks that risked getting lost or damaged. I worked with the owner's workflow to build a management system: a pricing calculator for weight tiers and wash types, a public customer portal where clients scan their receipt QR code to check status, and an offline-first Windows installer so the shop computer runs reliably even when the local internet drops.

  • • Pricing calculator based on weight and fabric type, snapshotting the rate at checkout so older receipts never change.
  • • Public order tracking page with zero login required — customers simply scan their paper receipt QR code.

A course team prototype for CIT 213 (Human-Computer Interaction 2), modeled around the clinical intake workflow at West Visayas State University Medical Center (WVSUMC). Built by Acebuche, Ardeña, Benjamin, Cadangin, and Tamaño. I designed and built the frontend: a 5-step touch kiosk for self-service patient check-in and a triage staff workstation with a live intake queue, nurse-controlled ESI triage scoring, and simulated vitals telemetry. All vitals telemetry and clinical data use simulated demo datasets.

  • • 5-step patient kiosk check-in with regional dialect support, an anatomical symptom body map, and numeric pain rating.
  • • Triage staff workstation featuring live patient queue management, nurse-controlled ESI assessment, and simulated telemetry display.

How I build

Habits I actually use, tied to work in the repos.

I notice a problem, read enough to try something, break it into parts, build a small version, test it, and go back to the docs when I get stuck.

Put important rules in the database

App code can skip a path. In HavenStay, 45 MySQL triggers write before-and-after snapshots when balances or room assignments change. CONVERA keeps session checkpoints in SQLite.

If it can burn a motor, the shutdown stays on the device

SmartFlow decides dry-run timeouts, run limits, and a lost tank-node link in C++ on the ESP32, switching a CJX2 contactor. If Wi-Fi or Firebase is down, the pump still stops.

Tests and a real run, not just a demo

CONVERA has 338 offline backend tests. Faith Laundry has 289 automated tests (199 JUnit, 90 Vitest). HavenStay has Pest checks on architecture boundaries. SmartFlow ran for days at home with multimeter checks before I left it unattended.

I use AI, then I check the work

I use it for drafts, test ideas, and explanations. I do not paste from it into a repo until I have read the docs, compiled, and tried the path myself.

I still overbuild when I am interested. Hardware and course deadlines have been the main things that force me to ship the part that is actually needed.

About

Background, school, and how I spend time outside class.

I grew up in Leon, Iloilo. I learn faster by building and testing than by memorizing. I'm a third-year BSIT student in Software Development Technologies at West Visayas State University, a DOST-SEI Scholar (Batch 2024), with CICT Parangal Gold (1st year) · Silver (2nd year) honors.

I like software that matches how people actually work: a pump that should not run dry, a boarding house that rents by the bed, a laundry shop that still used paper notebooks.

In senior high I worked on pine-needle cellulose bioplastic and whether it could slow fruit spoilage. I still like that kind of problem; it is not software work.

I play basketball as a point guard and shooting guard in barangay, SK, and inter-town leagues.
